The feedback from your opera (BARBER OF SEVILLE) has been extremely positive. We are very excited about the March show (RIGOLETTO March 11, 2010) and hopeful that word will build...

For those of you who were unable to attend our debut performance of IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA, it was a great success with a rave review from national opera critic, Paul Joseph Walkowski, who reviews opera performances all over the USA monthly at OperaOnline. The Hippodrome Theatre received extremely positive feed back from attendees, as did we. The combination of European musicians and Baltimore musicians was a wonderful cultural experience for those involved. The Baltimore area students who participated as extras also had an exciting experience meeting singers from several different countries and seeing first hand what goes on back stage at an opera performance. Students in the ART prime at CARVER CENTER FOR THE ARTS designed the wonderful cover and inside cover page for the program book and former Metropolitan Opera baritone, William Powers provided a free lecture for students before the show that was well received and appreciated. We are thrilled to report that there was no acoustical problem at the Hippodrome. Every singer was heard perfectly without amplification.

We look forward to Verdi’s RIGOLETTO at the Hippodrome Theatre on March 11, 2010 at 8PM. We have a superb international cast including Cuban baritone Nelson Martinez as RIGOLETTO, Ukrainian tenor Igor Borko from Opera Kiev as the Duke, Russian soprano Larissa Yudina of St. Petersburg Opera as Gilda, and American baritone and former Metropolitan opera soloist William Powers as Sparafucile. RIGOLETTO will be performed in Italian with ENGLISH super titles and will feature a full orchestra, full-scale sets and brand new costumes. Full bios of all the soloists can be found on our website. See you March 11 at the historic Hippodrome Theatre!

Music is a moral law. It gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, a charm to sadness and a gaiety and life to everything. It is the essence of order and leads to all that is true and beautiful.

Opera is Good Fit at Hippodrome Theater

Hippodrome Street View The elegantly regilded Hippodrome Theatre could be mistaken for an old-world opera house. On Wednesday night for three hours that's exactly what it was. The experience certainly was positive enough to make me want to hear more operatic workouts at the Hippodrome and boasted an agile, true ensemble cast that carried out comic moments with particular aplomb. Everybody onstage demonstrated an appreciation for the expressive richness of Mozart's writing and considerable determination to add nuance to their phrasing. Giorgio Lalov's staging kept things animated.
